NextGEN Gallery

For the visitor of my website it is especially noticed that the look of the different photos is a time consuming activity (time open and close the individual photos in a photo series).

To this what to simplify, I have the plugin ‘NextGEN Gallery‘ added to my website.

In the previous post – Window Liners Middle Strut Windshield – you could notice that the last pictures too are seen through the ‘NextGEN Gallery’. This plugin makes sure that the photos are all behind each other can be viewed without the previous picture to close it.

Two options are available :

  • Once clicking on a thumbnail enlarges the picture left and right and a little arrow pops up to continue scrolling through the gallery.
  • A second possibility is to click on ‘Show large pictures in Autoview’. This option displays a slide show that you can arrange for this not to turn off the bottom left and then individual thumbnails to select at the bottom of the screen.

Systematically, the various series have an update with the ‘NextGEN Gallery’.

Window Liner – Middle Strut Windshield

To the example of the experiment that I did to the ‘window liners’ to make with styrofoam, epoxy, glass cloth and shipping to most european countries, now I have the ‘window liner’ made for the mid-strut’ of the windshield.

To the rest of the ‘window liners’ to tinker, I want to have other options to try such as the use of MDF and Balsa wood.

Working with MDF and Balsa will be faster and easier what can not be said of the styrofoam process.

Despite the intricate operation of this concept is working with styrofoam has been a success.

More info about the make of the Window Liner – Middle Strut is to be found at the following link :

Window Liners – Experiment with styrofoam, epoxy, glass cloth and shipping to most european countries

Some cockpitbouwers use fiber glass in their cockpit. This idea seemed to me something to try.

This process is also frequently used at bootbouwers/repairers and also in the world of model making.

As preparation for the making of the ‘Window Liners, I did some testing done with different materials :

  • Styrofoam;
  • Epoxy;
  • Glass cloth;
  • Polysterplamuur.

The test was very successful and I am now busy with the making of the ‘Middle strut windshield window liner’.

The story of this test is to be found at the following link :

PFPX

PFPX – Professional Flight Planner X – is now on the market. After years of waiting there is finally the release.

After TOPCAT (from the same creators) is PFPX – Professional Flight Planner X is a new and innovative vluchtplanningstool developed by real-world pilots and dispatchers.

It is a valuable and realistic addition to your flight simulation. This tool also makes it possible for professional flight plans that are comparable to those of the real-world airlines.

Those who want something more than Flight Sim Commander, FSNavigator and FS Build and want plans such as the ‘allure’ ... a ‘must have’!

New ‘Liveries’ for the 27Sqn B737-800

My B737-800 (PMDG model) is flying now in a different outfit and this on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of our Flight Sim Club ’27th Squadron’ next year.

Paul Kellens, our president of the association, once again all his paintbrushes and spraying equipment brought out and our B737's-clubvliegtuigen with a new coat of paint.

One ‘livery’ is painted in a new standard (2014) and the other ‘livery’ is a special performance on the occasion of our 20-year anniversary.

Handsome paint !

Install the ‘Eyebrow Windows’ and ‘Map Lights’

An important part of the ‘Ceiling’ or ceiling in the cockpit are the ‘Eyebrow Windows’.

I have a couple of years ago, a set can buy from Robert (FlyEngravity). This EBW will probably be a B737-300.

After the necessary renovations, I have them now in my cockpit built and this, together with the ‘Map Lights’.

This ‘Map Lights’ I had since a while ago, patched together, and thus also the highest time for that to build.

The explanation + a mountain of photos to be found on the following page : http://www.flightdeck737.be/hardware/platform/ceiling/

Front Ceiling – Part 2

The front plafondgedeelte in the cockpit, or the ‘front-ceiling’ is finished and installed.

After the necessary schilderbeurten are the 2 mdf panels mounted on the windowframes.

Since then, the folding handle assembly with brackets mounted on the provided places.

After this operation, it is the turn of the ‘eyebrow windows’.

More info regarding the ‘front-ceiling’ is to be found at the following link : http://www.flightdeck737.be/hardware/platform/ceiling/

Folding handles and brackets

The folding handles (pilot grab handle) with the corresponding mounting brackets are ready for use.

The plastic coating on the handle, I have removed and the entire handle, painted black.

To these handles to attach to the ‘front-ceiling’, I have brackets made from aluminium U-profile 20 mm.
With what saw, and vijlwerk are that easy to make.

Later, the brackets with handle built into the mdf-panels of the ‘front-ceiling’.

Front Ceiling – Part 1

I'm already a while busy with the construction of the ceiling (ceiling) in the cockpit. This I divided in 3 parts :

  • Front (front ceiling);
  • Eyebrow windows;
  • Rear (rear ceiling).

Currently, the front is practically finished. This is the part between the ‘windshield’ (front windows) and the ‘forward overhead. There remains for me only the necessary works to carry out.

This front is composed of 2 mdf panels of 12 mm (Capt and F/O). These mdf panels rest on the window frames and are screwed down against the metal cockpitframe in which the ‘overheads’ are confirmed.

After studying different pictures on Airliners.net I have this mdf panels in the middle (the left and right of the compass) with the necessary details (+-) that are found on the ‘real thing’.

The ‘front-ceiling’ is also provided with the necessary folding handles.

After the necessary schilderbeurten and assembly follows a more detailed explanation + of course with the accompanying pictures ...
