Interface brightness DU's

DESCRIPTION

The adjustment (dimming) of the various display units (DU's) is done through a number of buttons on the Lower Dimming Panels :

LOWER DU BRT > Lower Eicas
UPPER DU BRT > Upper Eicas

INBD DU BRT > ND
OUTBD DU BRT > PFD

The management (interface) of these functions is done via the interface board to POKEYS 55 and the cockpitsoftware PROSIM737.

CONNECTION HARDWARE

For the dimming of the various DU’ I I potentiometers use of 10kOhm (linair). I have especially for solid metal potentiometers, chosen a robust and "heavy" feeling when operating the buttons.

The potentiometer has three connections. When you top looks :

Left : min (-)
Middle : the runner
Right : plus (+)

The Minus (-) of each potentiometer is connected to a following Minus (-) of the following potentiometer whereby the latter is connected to one of the GND's on the Pokeys 55.

The Plus (+) of each potentiometer is connected to a following Plus (+) of the following potentiometer whereby the latter is connected to the 3.3 V port on the Pokeys 55.

The runner of each potentiometer is connected directly to one of the 5 analog ports on the Pokeys 55 (port 43 to port 47). For these connections a bit more to clarify, I have a different color of thread used. This thread is multi-conductor kableerdraad of 0.2 mm2.

CONNECTION SOFTWARE

When all hardware is connected (potentiometers, wires, Pokeys) is a breeze in ProSim737 all the ports to configure for the correct function or task :

ProSim737 : File/Config/Analog
Choose the function
Select the Pokeys
Choose the correct port
Press OK

Note. Sometimes you have a flickered display, whereby the display automatically from full bright to maximum dim. How can you fix this?

Download the pokeys configuration program (https://www.poscope.com/);
Choose the right Pokeyskaart;
In the Tabs, select the ‘analogue inputs’;
Check the Inputs > you will see the voltage input of the card to skip;
On the lower second half of the screen you can see that the velocity (speed) of the pots can define > put on a lower (slower) value.
The problem should be fixed now.
