Folder Lights

The last weeks I have in between the ‘Map Lights’ in patched together. The ‘Map Lights’, the spots that one can find in the ‘Eyebrow Windows’ to the left and to the right of the Forward Overhead.

I have them made with parts of plumbing pipes, and this to the idea of Martin van Liempt.

This knutselgeschiedenis is to be found on the following page : http://www.flightdeck737.be/pc/electronics-2/map-lights/

Oxygen duct

The day before yesterday for Sinterklaas, an oxygen connection. This can come in handy in the crafting of the oxygen panel to the left and right on the sidewall tables".

This oxygendarm is still new and is equipped with the necessary connections. This is normally used in a different type of aircraft (the locals know where I met have ...)

Badge Cockpit Project

Own design, I have a badge let embroidery by my neighbor Marc Eekels. Marc has a business in the coating (and embroidery) of saddles for jet skis and motorcycles, the interior lining of cars, and perhaps also for the coating of cockpitstoelen. He is to be found at the following address : http://grip-gear.com

The badge is 10 cm with blue background and white letters. The cockpittekening is silver-grey.

Projects for 2013

2012 was my cockpit a fruitful year. The two ‘overheads’ (Forward and After) are created and operational. Also the tinkering of the metal tubular frame, to which the ‘overheads’ on the wall, is to a good end.

For 2013, there are other challenges in the pipeline, namely the construction of the cockpit sidewalls, the window liners, and the cockpit ceiling (ceiling). So much work to be done ...

The following weeks or months doing ‘research’ to figure out how I'm going to build, i.e. size search, what materials I'm going to use and what techniques I should apply to get the best result.

I am already well on the way down with the info that I received from Martin van Liempt (Eindhoven-NL) and Vidar Fagerjord (Norway). And not to forget, the MarkusPilot.com-dimensions ...

FSWeekend 2012

Yesterday I made my annual trip to Lelystad (NL) for the FSWeekend.

I thought it was a weak affair t.o.v. the previous few years. Much less visitors and less exhibitors.

FlyEngravity (and CP Flight) were not of the party due to the priority for current affairs and too busy.

It was very busy on the stand from Revolution Simproducts and ProSim737. So also the greetings done to Marty, Dirk, Honor, and Oral.

Furthermore, my interest was directed to Prepar3D that left and right was to be found in the Dutch FS Clubs. Prepar3D is the most are still in the ‘test case’.

The most important is that we again amused ...

Photos in flight

Yesterday a IVAO-vluchtje made from Brussels to Munich. My F/O (Kenny), meanwhile, has made some pictures with his iPad. Also via his iPad, the push-back run.

He also tried to work through the ProSim WebCDU via the iPad but that resulted in a system crash on my hardware and ProSim CDU. We need further testing...

A few photos are shown on page http://www.flightdeck737.be/gallery/in-flight/

Welcome on board Paul Of Gertruyden

Today I had a visit from Paul Of Gertruyden. Paul is also a member of the Flight Simulator Club ’27th Squadron’ and he is mainly involved in VFR flying.

In the near future Paul a generic desktop cockpit (Cessna) build with the basic of Flight Illusion and panels from GoFlight. This desktop model will primarily be the ‘basic’ without too many bells and whistles.

He came to have a look with what materials I have worked in the construction of the cockpit (and also of course to my cockpit open to the public). The start of the project is scheduled for early 2013.

Good luck Paul.

Yoke Decals

The 737-yoke from PFC does not have decals (stickers). I thought they at Revolution Simproducts to be found but which have no yoke decals. After some searching between the different cockpitbouwers I have these decals found in Fabio Ippoliti (Rome) and Rudy Danese (BE).

Noise level in the cockpit

In addition to the previous chapters relates to the ‘Flight Deck Sound System", I wondered how much the ‘SPL’ (Sound Pressure Level) is in a B737-800 Cockpit.

Some allied B737-800 pilots at Ryanair have a while ago for me the test on the sum taken by a measurement to do on cruisehoogte (FL370).

This measurement is done via an App on their IPhone and not using a calibrated meter vibration. So the result is not 100% correct but it gives us an idea.

Further info regarding this test is found on page http://www.flightdeck737.be/pc/sounds/flight-deck-sound-system/
