DSC01387DESCRIPTION

When we go on a trip, we have all noticed at the airport , the tv screens at the gate entrance with the flight number and airline.
M. a.w. the gate monitors’.

So ProSimUtils (PSU) also an extra ‘feature’ to be a "gate monitor" to simulate it. Not immediately something which is necessary in a homecockpit but a ‘gadget’ that the whole is a bit more realistic look.

I use this "gate monitor" on the one hand as a part in the execution of my IVAO VA-escape (27th Squadron) and on the other hand as welcome in visiting my homecockpit. This with additional information from the demovlucht that you, the visitor (co-pilot) can follow such as visitor name, airport of departure and destination, time ...

On this ‘gate monitor can also be as a intro to a youtube video playback, such as e.g. a promo video of an airport or of a homecockpit ... 🙂

HOW A PSU HTML-INSTALL THE APPLICATION?

PSU has 2 HTML applications that you can install : Gate Monitor and In-Flight Entertainment (IFE). Both applications are installed the same way.

  • Download the most latest PSU version via this link: http://prosim-ar.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=86&t=6142;
  • In the PSU install-folder you find the folder ‘www’;
  • In the www folder create a new folder for each HTML application (in this case, for the gatemonitor);
  • The folder name for the gatemonitor MUST be named as follows: ‘gatemonitor’;
  • Unzip the zip-file (PSU.GateMonitor.zip) to the folder ‘gatemonitor’;
  • Through a Internetbrower on any device that is connected to the network to access PSU can be the application-address the calls of the gatemonitor.

    Example: http://192.168.1.15:8085/gatemonitor?profile=myprofile.
    (The gatenummer is optional and is not necessary. When this is used in the profile will be overwritten.)
  • Each application has its own DEFAULT profile.

GATE MONITOR CONTROL

What we on the "gate monitor" to see if reports, such as status and flight information, can be set through the ‘Gate Monitor Control’.

This Gate Monitor Control’, one can call via a separate HTML page (control.html) and this via an address in a internet Browser.

For example: http://192.168.1.15:8085/gatemonitor/control.html

To the Gate Monitor Control’ to work there so nothing will be installed.

In the " Gate Monitor Control’, one can choose from two modes : AUTO and MANUAL.

In the MANUAL mode the "status" of the gate be set manually via the Control page itself.

In the AUTO mode are some of the ‘statuses’ of the gate will be automatically changed to (not all of them).

  • FMS INIT (RTE PAGE FLIGHT ID, ORIGIN, DESTINATION): SHOW FLIGHT
  • DOORS CLOSED: GATE CLOSED
  • ACARS OUT: DEPARTED
  • ACARS OFF: RESET(blank gate monitor)
    All other ‘states’ will need to be changed through the Control page.

HTML/CSS/AJAX

The "gate monitor" is generated by HTML, CSS, XML and JS files and linked to ProSimUtils.

These files are found in the ProSimUtils-root under the folder " www/gatemonitor’ and are fully customizable.

To no problems with the original files it is recommended that a separate folder with its own name e.g. ‘myprofile’. You copy the original files from the "default" folder to your own folder. Then, you can continue to work with the files from your own folder (making a backup is recommended in case of’).

It is of course desirable that people what HTML/CSS-knowledge in house.
But if you the contents of the files study you can see the structure of it and one can easily simple changes.

These changes or modifications do I have to do with Notepad++. Free, easy to use and it gives a clear overview in the color of the content.

Since this "gate monitor," oh.a. in HTML programming, this can be read by any contemporary browser. You can use an iPad, tablet, smart TV, Mac, pc and this from any place in the house ...

As already mentioned the PSU gate monitor’ with any device with a web browser (iPad, tablet, smart TV, Mac, pc).

So I happen to be of my niece, a Smart TV. The thing was no longer used and was about to dwindle in the attic. So ideal to function as a "gate monitor" ... 🙂

With a Smart TV, you can directly on Internet and, therefore, with the correct address in a local network to the PSU server (HTML, "gate monitor," or IFE).
